Falling in Love With Riding Again: October Journaling Focus
Our most recent Fall in Love With Riding Again group coaching session focused on deepening the connection between rider, horse, and intention—using the Love to Ride Journal as a powerful tool for clarity and growth.
We began by exploring how to map out riding plans, life events, and even moon phases on the journal’s calendar pages. Aligning your goals with natural energy cycles can bring a surprising sense of rhythm and ease to your training. From there, we dove into SMART goal setting — not just the familiar structure of specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time‑bound, but also the idea that your goals should feel just a little bit “scary.” Growth happens when you stretch beyond what feels comfortable.
This month’s journaling belief, “My horse is always trying to figure out what I want him to do,” opened a beautiful conversation about communication and partnership. When we assume our horses are trying — truly trying — everything shifts. Riders were encouraged to write down their current beliefs, identify their October “big rock” focus, and connect that focus to the deeper values that drive their riding journey.
We also talked about timing: there’s no perfect moment to journal. Whether you jot down weekly notes or reflect at the end of the month, the key is using the focus questions consistently so your awareness grows ride by ride.
October’s lunar dates offer natural checkpoints — the new moon on October 10th for setting fresh intentions, and the full moon on October 26th for celebrating progress and expressing gratitude.
Our next group coaching session on October 20th will be a chance to share experiences, refine goals, and introduce a new belief to carry into the following month. If you’re ready to reconnect with your confidence, your horse, and your joy in the saddle, this is a beautiful place to begin. Connect with Nancy at [email protected] to join this program.
